Stéphane Boitel

Theatre Garonne, Artistic Advisor Toulouse, France

Stéphane Boitel is head of the communication department and artistic adviser at the theatre Garonne in Toulouse, where he is especially in charge of the development of the international artistic policy. Trained in linguistics and literature at Toulouse Jean-Jaures University in the 90’s, he founds and directs in the meantime an independent cultural magazine. After several years as a freelance writer and publisher in the publishing industry, he is recruited by the theatre Garonne in the early 2000’s. He rapidly undertakes the communication department, soon asked to join the direction board, and is appointed as a curator in the mid 2000’s. While in charge at Garonne, he works in parallel as a freelancer for various theatres and festivals in France and for a festival in Barcelona. As a curator at Garonne, he is developing a policy dedicated to international operations and is in charge of conceiving, producing and monitoring specific international events. Since 2106, he is also a lecturer at Champollion University (Strategy for international cultural relations).

Since its foundation in 1988, théâtre Garonne is committed to promoting contemporary creation in the fields of theater, dance, music and in all disciplines related to the performing arts, and in granting access to a variety of audiences The théâtre Garonne commissions, disseminates and make visible the work of established artists, and makes possible the emergence of new faces. Located on the Garonne river bank, the facility offers three different venues, an exhibition gallerie, and a bar-restaurant.
