Curatorial Statement:
White Bird, founded in 1997 by Walter Jaffe and myself, is dedicated to bringing the best contemporary dance from around the world to Portland, Oregon, Each year we present 12 dance companies in two different subscription series. We have over 1700 subscribers. Over our 21 years of presenting on contemporary dance, we have presented the following Australian dance companies, Australian Dance Theater, Leigh Warren, Dance North, Philip Adams’ Ballet Lab (2X), Lucy Guerin (2X), Sydney Dance (3X), Chunky Move (3X). I am eager to see a wide variety of dance work that I can consider programming in future White Bird seasons. One of the main goals of attending Dance Massive is to deepen the relationships I already have with many choreographers and dancers by not only seeing the work but meeting with them. I look forward to getting to know artists to me.
