Emily Wells

Emily Wells is a proud Kamilaroi woman and a passionate creative, born and raised on the Sunshine Coast. Emily is a keen producer and performer whose creative practice spans diverse roles and art forms but particularly focused in theatre, events, festivals and non-for-profit arts organisations. Having recently graduated from QUT with a Bachelor of Entertainment Industries with Distinction, Emily is passionate about supporting creatives, empowering our youth and strengthening the visibility of Indigenous knowledges, perspectives and practice in the Australian arts sector. Emily is currently working as a Producer with BlakDance and Supercell Festival of Contemporary Dance, and sincerely thanks the ever-growing network, particularly the strong Indigenous women, who continue to support her growth as an Indigenous Producer.

Curatorial Statement:

For over a decade, BlakDance has consistently delivered generative and transformative sector events and advocates for the development of the small to medium Indigenous dance sector. BlakDance prioritises independent artists and emerging small to medium companies, work nationally and has a dedicated multiyear program. We provide managing and producing artist and presenter services and sector advocacy. We design, produce and deliver; Dana Waranara, National Indigenous Dance Forum, BlakDance Presenter Series, Producer Development Program, First Nations Dialogues New York, Global First Nations Exchange and BlakDance Residency Program.
