Skeleton TreeStephanie Lake is a multi award-winning choreographer and dancer and director of internationally renowned Stephanie Lake Company. Stephanie’s major works include Colossus, REPLICA, Pile of Bones, Double Blind, DUAL, A Small Prometheus, AORTA and Mix Tape. Stephanie’s works tour widely and have been presented by Theatre Chaillot Paris, December Dance Brugge, Dublin Dance Festival, Aarhus Festival, Hong Kong International Festival, Tramway Glasgow among many others. In Australia Stephanie’s works have been presented in Melbourne Festival, Sydney Festival, Sydney Opera House, Powerhouse Brisbane, Arts Centre Melbourne, Arts House and Theatre Royal.
Recent commissions include New Zealand Dance Company, Sydney Dance Company, Chunky Move, Queensland Ballet, Frontier Danceland (Singapore) and Dancenorth. Stephanie is the current recipient of the Australia Council Fellowship for Dance and previously the prestigious Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship and Peggy Van Praagh Choreographic Fellowship. In 2013 Stephanie was appointed the inaugural Resident Director of Lucy Guerin Inc. She currently sits on the Advisory Board for the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne.
Stephanie’s works have won multiple awards for Most Outstanding Choreography including the Australian Dance Award (Pile of Bones, 2018 and AORTA, 2014), Helpmann Award (A Small Prometheus, 2014) and Green Room Award (Mix Tape, 2011). Stephanie collaborates across theatre, film, visual art and music and has directed several large-scale participatory dance works for over 1000 participants.
