Sandra Parker

Adherence   

Sandra Parker was born in Rosebud, Victoria, and is a graduate of Victoria College Rusden and the University of Melbourne. Parker has created an extensive body of work including over 15 full-length works, 30 short works including commissioned works, gallery installations and collaborative projects in Australia and internationally. Parker has held positions including the Artistic Director of the iconic Australian company Dance Works (1997-2006), where she created innovative collaborations with many artists and arts organisations. In 2011 she was awarded the Australia Council for the Arts Fellowship (2012-2013) and in 2001 a Centenary Medal in recognition of her contribution to the art form. Recent projects include All Day and All Night, Sarah Scout Presents, 2018; Small Details, Dance Massive, 2017; Automaton (excerpt), The Score Ian Potter Museum of Art, Melbourne Festival, 2017; Gender/Power with NY artists Kris Grey and Maya Ciarrocchi, Jack, Brooklyn, NY, supported by the MAP fund (Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation), and Human Version, presented as part of Lucy Guerin Inc’s Pieces for Small Spaces, 2016. In 2017 Sandra undertook a Bogliasco Foundation Fellowship residency at the Bogliasco Study Centre, Bogliasco, Italy where she commenced the development of her new project Adherence.
