Leisa Shelton
SCRIBELeisa Shelton is a performance artist and curator. Leisa’s current practice is focused on frames in which to hold cultural dialogues that enable the spaces between the making and receiving of performance to be given focus. Recent projects include 3 editions as co-curator of the Venice International Performance Art Week (VIPAW), initiating and directing ‘eXchange’, a cultural and performance exchange between dance artists and festivals in Melbourne and Taipei, Taiwan and as guest artist with the Taipei Arts Centre and TAF to facilitate the inaugural Asia Discovers Asia Meeting bringing together 20 significant emerging artists from across AustralAsia toward new performance projects in 2018. ‘Mapping Australian Media Art’ (2014–16) featured in Experimenta Recharge: 6th International Biennial of Media Art, and her current project SCRIBE was commissioned for the 2016 Festival of Live Art, Melbourne, then re-commissioned for Spill Festival in the UK, Dance Massive 2017 and in 2018 returned to Dancehouse for the Keir Choreographic Awards, in Berlin with Performing Arts Festival PAF and Tanz Im August, and the 2018 Melbourne Writers Festival. Scribe returns to Dance Massive in 2019 with further International touring planned for later in the year.
