Harri Kuorelahti graduated from the Theatre Academy Helsinki in 1990. Since then he has worked as a dance artist, performer and choreographer in many freelance productions in Finland and abroad and as one of the leading dancers at Helsinki Dance Company at Helsinki City Theater from 1990-2006. He was the Artistic Director at Full Moon Dance Festival from 2007-2009. He has been Artistic Director at Zodiak – Center for New Dance and Side Step Festival since 2010.
Zodiak – Center for New Dance is a progressive dance organization and Finland’s most significant contemporary dance production house with two stages and studios at the Cable Factory cultural center in Helsinki.
The mission of Zodiak is to produce, present and promote works of high artistic quality and innovation.
Zodiak provides a creative environment and collegial platform for independent dance collectives and artists in Finland as well as provides a joint, collegial platform for various artistic activities. Zodiak supports international collaboration projects and hosts the annual Side Step Festival with an international program. Zodiak also runs a large scale outreach program in collaboration with professional artists and arranges workshops and courses for both professionals and non-professionals.
For the audience, Zodiak offers a versatile repertoire of current cutting edge contemporary dance; performances, artists, phenomena, courses, discussions and events.
